Wretched Spawn, their eighth album of all-new material, was released in 2004, followed by Kill in 2006. In 2008, the band re-entered the studio with producer Erik Rutan (of Hate Eternal), and Evisceration Plague, the band’s highest-charting album, was released early the following year. The gore-metal masters returned two years later with the concert video Global Evisceration before releasing the all-new studio album Torture in 2012. The band’s 13th long-player, A Skeletal Domain, was released in 2014 and debuted at number 32 on the Billboard 200.
After a period of intense touring, the members of Cannibal Corpse moved on to new projects. Fisher created Serpentine Dominion with Adam D of Killswitch Engage and Shannon Lucas of the Black Dahlia Murder. Six Feet Under, headed by singer (and former CC bandmate) Chris Barnes, recruited guitarist Jack Owen. Cannibal Corpse reunited in 2017 at Erik Rutan’s Mana Recording Studios in Florida to record their 14th album, Red Before Black, with veteran producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal). In September, Zev Deans created a video single called “Code of the Slashers,” which was followed by the album in early November, the same day a nationwide tour with Power Trip and Gatecreeper started. Rutan joined the band as their new guitarist in addition to his producing responsibilities, and made his studio debut on 2021’s usually brutal Violence Unimagined.
