Cordae is a singer-songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. He’s been on the road for over 10 years, performing over 100 shows a year with his band and as a solo artist.

Cordae is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He began his career as a solo artist in the late 2000s.

YBN: The Mixtape Cordae rose to prominence as a member of the short-lived YBN collective with the viral songs “My Name Is” and “Old N*ggas,” the first of which interpolated Eminem’s 1999 breakout hit and the second of which responded to J. Cole’s “1985.” Cordae quickly followed up with original compositions like “Scotty Pippen” and “Kung Fu,” which showcased his sophisticated lyrics, varied flows, and keen technical skills. His skill drew the attention of thousands of followers and previous generations of rap superstars. Along with 50 Cent’s public praise, prominent stars like Gucci Mane and Wiz Khalifa appeared as guests on YBN: The Mixtape, Cordae’s 2018 collaboration with YBN Almighty Jay and YBN Nahmir. The Lost Boy, his Grammy-nominated first album, was released the following year, followed by the Just Until…. EP in 2021.

Cordae Dunston was born in 1997 in Suitland, Maryland, and grew up there. As a youngster, he began rapping and soon began releasing songs under the name Entendre, drawing inspiration from prominent rap superstars such as Nas and Talib Kweli. He produced three mixtapes under the moniker Entendre between 2014 and 2017, but he didn’t take rap seriously until he moved to Los Angeles and formed the YBN (Young Boss N*ggas) collective with pals YBN Nahmir and YBN Almighty Jay at the beginning of 2018. With original songs like “Fighting Temptations” and an explosive freestyle on the L.A. Leakers interview program that rapidly reached millions of listeners, he established his name as YBN Cordae throughout the year. Cordae contributed to collaborative works with YBN, as well as performing live, both solo and with the collective, in addition to his own songs and videos.

He released the songs “Bad Idea” and “RNP” with Chance the Rapper and Anderson.Paak in 2019. Both songs appeared on The Lost Boy, his formal full-length debut. The album included additional performers Ty Dolla $ign, Pusha T, and Meek Mill and was released that summer. Cordae earned two Grammy nominations later that year, for Best Rap Album (The Lost Boy) and Best Rap Song (“Bad Idea”). With the sudden collapse of the YBN group in 2020, he deleted the YBN from his stage name. He reappeared in 2021 with the EP Just Until…., which included Q-Tip and Young Thug as guests, after a smattering of collaborations and the solo song “The Parables.”
