Tony Shin is a Korean American news anchor and reporter who currently works for NBC4 in Los Angeles. He was born on April 26, 1971 to parents of mixed-Asian descent. Tony Shin is an Emmy Award-winning American journalist who presently works as the NBC 4 Inland Empire Bureau Chief, covering stories for NBC4 News in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties at 11 a.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Shin began working for the station as a general assignment correspondent in 2013. He is an Emmy Award-winning reporter who has covered a number of high-profile national issues, including the terrorist incident in San Bernardino in 2015 and the apprehension of Christopher Dorner, for which he provided multiple live updates for NBC affiliates around the country. He was also honored for obtaining an exclusive interview with one of the wounded victims of a fatal tour bus accident in San Bernardino in 2013.

Shin is also committed to giving back to the community, emceeing events such as the CASA of San Bernardino County’s Care for Kids Run/Walk and the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley’s Walk for the Animals, among others.

Shin was born in Seoul, South Korea, but grew up in Southern California, helping his family operate a variety of small businesses. He enjoys golfing, watching sports on TV, and eating Korean cuisine in his spare time. Tony also likes sunbathing at the beach with his wife and two boys.

He graduated from the University of Nevada with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.
