Tonta [#1] Grupo Mojado has gone across Mexico, the United States, the Caribbean, South America, and Southern Europe by the year 2000. That year, they released three studio albums: Tonta 1 and 2, as well as Los Angeles Tambien Bailan, a compilation of funny tunes. The next year, they released La Familia, a compilation of Christian-themed songs in various genres. Grupo Mojado had greater success on the Top Latin Albums list in the first decade of the new century. 30 Inolvidables, their first large-scale hit endeavor, charted in the Top Five on two separate charts. After 2006’s Amarte Es un Castigo, Grupo Mojado’s popularity slowed to a crawl, but they didn’t stop recording. They added almost 2,000 songs to their repertoire, which covered a wide range of genres. They released three albums in 2009, their last active year before taking a lengthy hiatus from the studio, including two critically praised studio albums (the reggaeton Skizo’ and Las Viejas Mas Buenas) and the live Arena. While the band continued to travel for around 200 concerts per year, they stopped recording, but Fonovisia and WEA International released several compilations to maintain their reputation in the public eye. Along with Bronco, Industria del Amor, and Liberación, they were included on the Discos America multi-disc collection Grandes Duetos in 2017.
