Frank Iero is an American musician and songwriter who was born on June 15, 1986. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the American rock band My Chemical Romance. In 2010, he released his first solo album “Frank Iero and the Patience.”

Frank Iero is best known as the rhythm guitarist for My Chemical Romance, an emo-punk band from the early 2000s. Following the breakup of that band, he embarked on a solo career marked by gushing lyrics, a passionate delivery, and a series of name changes, ranging from Frnkiero & the Cellabration in 2014 to Frank Iero & the Patience in 2016, and finally Frank Iero & the Future Violents in 2019.

Iero was born on Halloween in 1981 in Belleville, New Jersey, near his future MCR teammates Ray Toro, Gerard Way, and Mikey Way. He did not, however, attend their school, preferring instead to attend a local Catholic school. He was often ill, with continuous episodes of bronchitis and ear infections, eventually acquiring the Epstein-Barr virus, which plagued him into adulthood and left him with mono-like symptoms. Iero’s parents divorced when he was young, and he grew up with his mother, who generously gave up her basement for her son’s numerous band rehearsals; his father was a musician and a major influence on young Iero’s desire to play an instrument. He started performing in bands at the age of 11 after trying drums and then picking up the guitar. In high school, he was a bit of a loner, but he quickly found Nirvana and punk music, fell in love with bands like Black Flag and the Bouncing Souls, and ultimately formed Pencey Prep with pals, serving as lead vocalist and guitarist. (My Chemical Romance’s first show was in a small venue, opening for Pencey Prep.) He went to Rutgers University on a scholarship after high school, but when My Chemical Romance needed a second guitarist to round out their sound just as Pencey Prep was disbanding, Iero leapt at the opportunity. My Chemical Romance was one of the most interesting bands on the local scene at the time, and he dropped out of school to join them; his punk inclinations complemented guitarist Ray Toro’s metal instincts well.

Stomachaches In addition to My Chemical Romance, which disbanded in 2013, Iero launched a number of side projects, including the post-hardcore band Leathermouth and a solo punk project known as Frnkiero & the Patience (previously known as Frnkiero & the Cellabration on 2014’s Stomachaches), which he renamed Frank Iero & the Patience for 2016’s I’m a Mess. On Frank Iero & the Future Violents’ Barriers, he reappeared three years later under a new moniker.

Frank Iero is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known as the co-founder of the band My Chemical Romance. Frank has been a part of many bands since his debut in 2001.
